Oh I love this!!! There is nothing more soul soothing than sitting in the dark with only the soft glow of the Christmas tree lights. I have a friend who leaves a tree up year round, fake mind you, but she decorates it according to different holidays/seasons. You're right about the vibrations of this world passing through us and leaving an echo in it's wake. Though we may all be in different boats and in different parts of the ocean, we are all going through the same storm. All I can try and do is offer my boat or a life raft when I see or feel someone sinking or faltering in the storm. And as hard as it is, may we find joy each day, even in the simplicity of a text from a friend.

Last week I had been contemplating putting the tree up early, then two friends beat me to it. Now ours is up and fully decorated, and even has presents underneath! Because we're gone half of the holiday season, we have a fake tree, but it looks so real and brings so much joy. But I LOVE those bits of tree stubs you've kept over the years. Blessings to all, especially to those who are suffering and going without, I pray for comfort and joy. ♥️💚🎄

Gosh, that's wonderful! I love an early tree as well and I'd have several trees in different rooms if I could! I love the saving of the stumps (or a slice of the tree from each year), a wonderful collection. This past year we decided on a living tree to have for a few years and my only concern, after having it outside for the last 10 months, is that we'll wind up with ants and spiders waking up in a warm house???? What an adventure?

I think the decorations this time of year are so deeply and powerfully valuable. I couldn't do it without them.

I don’t put up my tree early because I am not a psychopath. No, no. I joke. You do you. But I want to say thank you for your awareness. When my first husband and I were starting out with very few possessions, his parents decided to give furniture and random items to his brother (because, reasons). His brother’s new wife’s family had given them many of the same items. They COMPLAINED about their excess. I was jealous, for sure. But I was more angry that they showed no appreciation for what they had. Recognize your blessings! Not doing so does not make you humble.

Lovely story. We should take every opportunity to celebrate the moment because the next one is not promised.

First time reader of your articles and I am so sorry that I didn't find you sooner. We are all weary. We're all ready for joy. I hope, pray & imagine JOY. What a glorious sounding word! I believe I remember what it was like, but am unsure. I'd dance naked in the rain for a little bit of joy right now but the neighbors would call the cops and that would be the end of my turn at the neighborhood watch. Hmm, excuse me I've gotta go.
